I opened Tattooed Heart Studios in 2005 to be unlike any other tattoo shop in the area. THS has grown to become a private studio that is home to a small group of incredibly talented specialty tattoo artists. The only way to get tattooed by us is to have an appointment. The front door is locked, and there is no incoming phone line. Minimizing distractions allows us to focus all of our energy on our clients that we are working with each day. You will be able to fully appreciate this when you are here being tattooed.

about my studio

One of the best parts of my job is you. It's the beautiful humans I get to meet, the stories we share, the interesting things we learn from each other. It's the little moments that all come together to create the whole experience. Sure, making art for a living is pretty sweet, but I'm here for the people.

it's nice seeing you here

Life is beautiful and ugly, gentle and harsh, comforting and heartbreaking, thrilling and mundane. We need deep sadness to perceive true happiness; we need to be shrouded in darkness to appreciate the light. When you feel lost, remember we are the path through the woods, the ocean's waves, the winds that push the clouds, and the warmth of the sun. We are all that, have always been, and will always be. The tattoos I make for my clients represent these truths and the essence of the human spirit.

We are

Morning coffee and reading the newspaper together, the cool fall breeze blowing through the window as you pour another cup. Black denim and leather boots, the deepest crimson flannel. Rose gold and velvet. Rich and lush. Chatting with locals while we sip our coffee and head out for the next adventure.

Red wine and dark twilight nights.

Sipping chartreuse and green tea while looking at the most perfect white subway tile and hand painted signs. Driving through the mountains to Portland reminiscing about the best memories back home. Cozy sweaters, vintage denim, and Pabst while telling one of a kind love stories.

One of a kind romance.

I do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, ability, status, or any other basis.

I accept you, whoever you are

Tattoos hurt, but the pain can be managed. Many years of experience have led me to a method of tattooing that is kind and gentle. I will do everything that I can to help keep you comfortable. I tattoo large designs on first-timers all of the time. A positive mental attitude goes a long way.

Don’t be afraid to ask for assistance if you are nauseous, dizzy, or feel confused about anything. Sometimes people feel faint when getting tattooed, particularly during the first few minutes, (sometimes even if it’s not their first time!) there’s no need to be embarrassed or afraid. Let us know if you are feeling anything unusual.

What about the pain?

Wear comfy and casual clothes with easy access to the area that is being tattooed. Depending on the placement, clothing may need to be removed so that we can make your tattoo fit and flow perfectly with your body.

What should I wear?

I will provide you with a detailed sheet that will tell you everything you need to know to properly care for your new tattoo. I will also give you the aftercare product that I recommend so you don't have to buy anything extra. Basic tattoo aftercare instructions include washing and moisturizing the tattoo about 2-3 times a day for 2 weeks. No soaking in pools, hot tubs, baths, or similar for 2 weeks. Protect from direct sunlight.

You must be at least 18 years of age. I do not tattoo minor.. You will need your driver's license, state identification card, or passport to identify yourself for my legal consent form. No exceptions.

How do I care for my new tattoo?

How old do I have to be?

I recommend getting good sleep and nutrition on the days leading up to your tattoo. Eat a full meal and drink plenty of water. Your body will burn a lot of energy during your tattoo session, so you may want to bring some snacks and a drink. Chill out on the alcohol the night before, and limit caffeine intake on the day of your session.

How should I prepare for my session?

FAQs

Your appointment will be held at:
Tattooed Heart Studios
7410 Coca Cola Drive, Unit 108
Hanover, Maryland 21076.

We are in a bit of an odd location, on the second floor of a warehouse complex. When you drive through the main entrance you will pass through an open gate, keep left and go around the back of the 7410 building. Park anywhere you can grab a spot, weekdays can be busy. Our entrance is through the lower level door located at about the middle of the building. You will see our red sign above the entrance. Come on in, head up the steps, and prepare to be impressed by our state of the art studio. Due to current restrictions our door may be locked. I will come get you at your scheduled time.

How do I find your studio?

No. Due to current guidelines we do not allow additional guests in the studio.

Can I bring a friend?

No. Tipping is not expected. I charge what I want to be compensated for my work. If you want to show your appreciation I would love for you to leave an honest Google review, or refer a friend or family member to my studio.

Maybe. You can always send me an email to run your idea by me. I sometimes open my books for custom designs, but I have found that I really enjoy the creative freedom that I have with drawing pre-made designs and throwing them up for grabs allows me.

Probably not. Most of my design style is not well suited to cover up old tattoos. There are exceptions to this. It never hurts to ask, but unless the cover-up is small and easy to cover or previously lightened with laser treatment, I usually shy away from those projects.

Should I tip?

Will you draw me a custom design?

Will you cover up or fix my old tattoo?

I accept cash or credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express). I also offer touchless payment options like Apple Pay and Samsung Pay. No checks.

What forms of payment are accepted?
